►
To
be involved – The PTA is the primary source of volunteers to help the
school. We provide hundreds of hours of service every year in a wide variety of
roles. Review the PTA volunteer form to see just a few of the areas where we
provide assistance.
► To
meet people – When you attend PTA meetings and volunteer, you meet your
child’s friends, teachers, other involved parents, and the school staff and
administration.
► To be
“in the know” – The KMS Principal, Mr. Douglas Tyson, attends PTA
meetings and reports on current events at the school. Our PTA meetings also
feature special speakers on important topics for teens, such as bullying
prevention, Internet safety, drug prevention and intervention services, TJ
Admissions, as well as information on the AP, IB, and Academy programs offered
by Fairfax County high schools. Also, we
hear each month from a KMS faculty representative on a variety of topics.
► For a
voice -Membership in the PTA offers you the opportunity to participate
in the local, state and national PTA organizations on issues directly affecting
your child’s education, such as class size, school boundaries, and standardized
testing.
►To
receive a copy of the student directory – All PTA members will receive
a complimentary copy of the student directory.
Extra copies and copies for non-members are $15.
